Saint Luke’s is a younger congregation --we have lots of young families, children, and youth! We are experiencing much growth among younger families who are searching for depth, meaning, and connection with generations that have come before. As young families seem to be yearning for such a church, we have become more and more a congregation with lots of children and youth who have fun being involved fully in a parish that sees children and youth as important members of the church!
For children, we offer a fun Bible-based Sunday School, Celebration Choir (for grades 2-8), Christ Kidz (monthly midweek children’s night), Vacation Bible School in Summer, together with SLY (Saint Luke's Youth) Jr. activities for elementary age kids.
For Middle-schoolers, we offer Middle SLY (Saint Luke’s Youth) activities and Sunday School classes, as well as Confirmation Classes for 7-8th graders.
For High Schoolers, monthly "Dinner and a Movie" night, annual trips to Elitch Gardens Amusement Park and Water World waterpark, skiing weekend, Wednesday night Bible Study/Discussion at Pike’s Perk Coffee House, and of course, High School Sunday School class.
Fully Involved Children and Youth! At Saint Luke’s we value our children and youth, and they have a special place in our hearts. For this reason, our pastor and deaconess are involved in ALL children and youth activities, so that our kids and youth know their pastor and deaconess, have time to talk with us on a regular basis, and know that they are important to us and to our congregation!
Involved in Worship! Together with a full spectrum of children and youth ministries, children and teens are also fully involved in our worship services--serving as acolytes, crucifiers, ushers, and nursery attendants. Children and youth are not "on the fringe" at Saint Luke’s--they are a full and active part of our congregation!
Three Weekend Services! Perhaps the biggest thing we offer families who struggle with schedules and sports and school activities, are three identical services each weekend! We now offer Saturday afternoon services at 5 p.m., as well as two services on Sunday morning at 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. All three services offer a professional nursery staffed by teachers of our Children’s Center.
Children’s Church! Again, to help our families and parents, we offer "Children’s Church" during our two Sunday morning services. After the reading of the Scripture lessons for the day, children 2nd grade and younger may go to a classroom for children’s sermon, object lesson, and songs relating to the Biblical theme of the day! This provides younger children with an age-appropriate Bible lesson, and it provides parents with the chance to actually hear the sermon! Children return to the sanctuary during the offering, so that they may continue to participate in the service. Of course, children are not required to go to Children’s Church--or nursery, for that matter--children are always welcome in worship--with their parents and family!
Saint Luke's Children's Center! As part of our ministry to children and families, we provide full-time educational childcare. Our center is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. We are presently licensed for toddlers through 7 years old, although when our new addition is completed, we will be offering infant care, and expanded care for preschoolers! Our educational childcare program is Christ-centered, developmentally appropriate, and beginning Fall, 2007, we will be implementing the Abeka Christian educational curriculum. Some classes do have wait-lists, so please call early to reserve a space for your child. We also provide a Summer Camp for older school children that includes full-time care, lunch, activities and field trips appropriate for kids age 5-10 years old. For more information related to our Children's Center, you may click on the link, or call our director, Michelle, at 719-598-7821.
Kids, youth and families will find a warm and welcoming home at Saint Luke’s!
