Opening Song: The Apostles' Creed
Big Idea: No matter where you are from, Jesus loves you.
Story: "Woman at the Well" | Spark Story Bible, pg. 420
Ask (from the story): How would you have felt if Jesus talked to you and he knew everything about you?
Let's watch a video to learn more about this story...
Lesson Video | The Woman at the Well
Ask: The woman was from a different place than Jesus and the people from Jesus' country didn't like her people. How would you feel if people didn't like you just because you were from a different place? ...
Did Jesus seem to care that this woman was from a different place? ...
We aren't from the same country Jesus was born in, but does He still love us? ...
Say: This woman is very important in the Bible. She is among the first people from outside Jesus' country about Jesus! So, she is sharing the good news about Jesus with other people in the world. This is what Jesus wants: He wants people from all over the world to follow Him because He loves them all!
Remember we hear last week that God loved the whole world, so He sent Jesus? So, we should love people from different places too, and share the love of Jesus with them.
Action for the Kids - Say: Look at a map or a globe this week and think about how Jesus loves the people of every country that you can find on the map.
Song for Kids: Peace Like a River
Think of the living water that Jesus offers the woman as we sing this song.
Activity Sheets or Play
After the song, hand out the activity sheets. Younger children are welcome to play with the Duplos (encourage them to play out a story that fits with the lesson).
End with the Lord's Prayer when the Usher comes to let you know the prayers have started.
(If you need more time)
Go around the room and ask the children to share something they are thankful for this week.
Ask them if there is anything or anyone they would like to pray for this week.
