Opening Song: The Apostles' Creed
Big Idea: Jesus is Our King (the Gospel)
Story: "Christ the King" - Spark Story Bible, pg. 474
Bible Story Video: Kingdom
Ask: Did you guys know that the church has its own calendar? What's the last month of the year in a normal calendar? Did you know today is the very last day in the church calendar? It's called "Christ the King".
Next week, it will be a new church year! So today is almost like New Year's Eve in the church. How do you usually celebrate New Year's Eve? ... Well, in the church, we have a party too - that's why the Sanctuary is decorated in white and gold, why we sing certain songs, and why we carry the cross in and out of the Sanctuary. It's a special day.
Say: All year, we've talked about Jesus and His upside-down Kingdom. So, to end the year, we are reminded that Jesus is our King and we are a part of His Kingdom. That mean, we want to act like Jesus and follow the ways of His Kingdom, which means loving God, and loving each other.

Activity Sheets or Play
After the song, hand out the activity sheets. Younger children are welcome to play with the Duplos (encourage them to play out a story that fits with the lesson).
End with the Lord's Prayer when the Usher comes to let you know the prayers have started.
(If you need more time)
Go around the room and ask the children to share something they are thankful for this week.
Ask them if there is anything or anyone they would like to pray for this week.
