For Kids: Lent 5 - Year C

Updated: Apr 15

Opening Song: The Apostles' Creed

Today, we are learning about the Anointing of Jesus

Story: At Mary's House - The Read and Learn Bible

Lesson Video: Jesus Anointed at Bethany

Ask: How do you think the woman felt when the disciples yelled at her for being kind to Jesus? How would you feel if you did something nice for someone, but other people thought it was silly? How did Jesus feel about what the woman did?

Say: Jesus did many kind things for people. He healed people from sickness, raised people from the dead, gave people food, and much more! Jesus gave so much to others, but this is one of the few times we see someone do something nice for Jesus. Wouldn't you like someone to do something nice for you if you were always doing kind things for others?

Action for the Kids - Say: Think of someone who has done kind things for you. Have you said thank you to them lately? Maybe a parent, grandparent, or a teacher? What are some ways we can show thanks to them this week? When we do kind things for others, we are doing it for Jesus too!

Song for Kids: Look in the Bible

Activity Sheets or Play

After the song, hand out the activity sheets. Younger children are welcome to play with the Duplos (encourage them to play something that fits with the lesson).

End with the Lord's Prayer when the Usher comes to let you know the prayers have started.
