For Kids: Palm Sunday
Opening Song: The Apostles' Creed
Today, we are learning about the Triumphal Entry of Jesus
Story: Palm Sunday - Spark Story Bible p. 454
Lesson Video: The Triumphal Entry
Short Lesson (from rFour):
Ask: Do you think of yourself as a helpful person? What are some ways that you are helpful to your mom or dad or brothers or sisters or teachers or friends or pets? And why do you help out in those ways? (because I have to; because I want to; because its nice)
Say: I ask about being helpful because in today's scripture story, we see that there are people who are helpful to Jesus.
The disciples help get a donkey for Jesus.
The person who owns the donkey lets Jesus borrow it.
The people in the crowd lay down their coats and cloaks before Jesus as a sign of respect. And then, the people start to cheer and praise God for Jesus. What we see happen, then, when all of these people help Jesus is that a parade, a party, a celebration(!) takes place.
Action for the Kids - Say: Jesus asks us to help Him share His love and Good News all over the world. What are some ways you can do that this week?
Song for Kids: Hosanna in the Highest!
Activity Sheets or Play
After the song, hand out the activity sheets. Younger children are welcome to play with the Duplos (encourage them to play something that fits with the lesson).
End with the Lord's Prayer when the Usher comes to let you know the prayers have started.
