Opening Song: The Apostles' Creed

Today we are learning about treasure on Earth vs. treasure in Heaven.

Lesson: Favorite Parables from the Bible, pg. 188

Bible Story Video: The Parable of the Wealthy Man

Ask: What was happening in the story?

Did the farmer want to share the food he had with others or keep it to himself?

Was God happy with or mad at the farmer? ...Why do you think that?

Can you tell me of a time when you didn't want to share something you had?

How do you feel when someone doesn't share with you?

Say: In our story today, God gave the farmer a wonderful farm that grew a lot of food. But when the farm grew so much food that the farmer didn't know what to do with it all, he kept it all to himself. There were a lot of people who needed food to eat but didn't have any - and the farmer didn't share with them. God was not happy about that.

Every good thing we have really comes from Jesus, Who is God. He wants us to share good things we others - especially if we have something that could help someone else. It's important to be thankful to God for what we have and then share it with others. That is how we really show that we are thankful!
