For Kids: The Body of Christ | Lectionary 21 (Pentecost 13) | Year A
Opening Song: The Apostles' Creed
Note: Today's lesson is based on Romans 12:1-8 in the Lectionary readings.
Big Idea: We are all important because God made us special.
Story: "Many Members, One Body" | Spark Story Bible, pg. 542
Action (from the story): Act out ways of helping others (but don't tell anyone what you are doing) and see if people can guess what you are doing.
Lesson Video | The Church: One Body with Many Parts
Ask: What is something you do well? What is something you're not very good at?
Can we be good at everything?
God gave us all special things that we can do. Some people in the church are good at helping others. Some people are good at teaching about Jesus. Some people are good at preaching.
If one person were good at everything, there would be nothing for anyone else to do - and that would be pretty boring. It feels good to use the gifts God has given us to help others.

Activity Sheets or Play
After the song, hand out the activity sheets. Younger children are welcome to play with the Duplos (encourage them to play out a story that fits with the lesson).
End with the Lord's Prayer when the Usher comes to let you know the prayers have started.
(If you need more time)
Go around the room and ask the children to share something they are thankful for this week.
Ask them if there is anything or anyone they would like to pray for this week.
