For Kids: The Holy Spirit | Pentecost | Year A

Opening Song: The Apostles' Creed

Big Idea: Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would come - and He did!

Story: "The Holy Spirit" | Spark Story Bible, pg. 502

Ask: What language would you want to speak if you could?

Lesson Video | God Send the Holy Spirit

Ask: What do you think it would have been like to be there when the Holy Spirit came? What language would you have wanted to speak? Why do you think the Holy Spirit helped the disciples speak in different languages? (So more people could hear the good news of Jesus!)

Ask: Peter told people to repent and be baptized. Does anyone remember what "repent" means? (To turn the other way - to turn toward God!)

Say: The Holy Spirit helped the Disciples do many amazing things, so God's power could be shown to those who did not know God. Today, the Holy Spirit still helps us to love others, to help people, and to be kind.

Song for Kids: Trinity Song

Activity Sheets or Play

After the song, hand out the activity sheets. Younger children are welcome to play with the Duplos (encourage them to play out a story that fits with the lesson).

End with the Lord's Prayer when the Usher comes to let you know the prayers have started.

(If you need more time)

  • Go around the room and ask the children to share something they are thankful for this week.

  • Ask them if there is anything or anyone they would like to pray for this week.

Ending Song: The Lord's Prayer
